Alfredo Dagoberto Hercules-Santos, 40, has pleaded guilty in Bridgeport district court to one count of reentry of a removed alien. Hercules-Santos is a citizen of El Salvador who had been living in New Britain before his latest arrest.
Hercules-Santos was removed from the country and deported back to El Salvador in July 2005, U.S. Attorney John Durham said. He illegally reentered the country and was found again in November 2012, prompting his removal in January the following year. Hercules-Santos again illegally reentered the U.S. and was found in May 2014 and deported the following month.
Durham said Hercules-Santos illegally reentered the third time. On Aug. 19, the Vernon Police Department arrested him, charging him for driving under the influence after he crashed an SUV into an unmarked Vernon Police cruiser. At the time of that crash, he had a separate driving under the influence case pending in New Britain Superior Court. Both of those ended with guilty pleas.
Hercules-Santos has been detained since his arrest. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 19 next year, when he will face up to two years behind bars.
